School avoidance, often called refusal but now termed Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) is on the rise statistically and anecdotally in Primary and Secondary Schools. Parents are struggling to navigate the complexities of EBSA and yet they are at the coal-face of every aspect from inside the home, dealing with schools, agencies, medical assessments as well as trying to hold down employment and other aspects of general life.

Through my own personal experience, Coaching Thesis and facilitating workshops, I have come to understand that parents are often excluded from support systems and feel that they are under a microscope, judged and overwhelmed. The webinar is designed to unpack some of the parents experiences and gives insight into coaching approaches that have assisted families to cope with EBSA. These coaching approaches give parents an opportunity to share their stories, experiences, frustrations, challenges and wins in a place where they feel safe to explore EBSA, the push and pull factors and find solutions for their families. It also offers opportunity for them to support each other and the workshop style groups are often described as 'an anchor in the storm'. Importantly, it also takes the pressure off systems that are already overwhelmed and offers another pillar of essential support.
