A talk on tackling paediatric asthma will take place online on 16 October 2026. The event is open to all and will provide information on the most common long-term illness in children. Asthma affects young people's daily lives and places a significant burden on their families.
Asthma is the most common long-term illness in children, affecting their daily lives and placing a significant burden on young people, their families and healthcare services. Childhood asthma is shaped by both biology and environment. As researchers develop more targeted treatments for severe asthma, there is also growing recognition of the impact that environmental exposures can have on children’s lung health. In this seminar, two experts will talk about their research on preventing and treating paediatric asthma and answer your questions: Professor Frank Kelly CBE holds the inaugural Humphrey Battcock Chair in Community Health and Policy, within Imperial’s School of Public Health and is Director of Imperial’s Environmental Research Group. Professor Kelly will talk about his research on environmental determinants of asthma and exposure monitoring. Professor Sejal Saglani is Professor of Paediatric Respiratory Medicine in Imperial’s National Heart and Lung Institute and Director of Imperial’s Centre for Paediatrics and Child Heath . She is an Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Brompton Hospital. Professor Saglani will talk about her research on advancing new treatments for severe paediatric asthma.
