About This Event
A workshop titled *Using Somatic Psychology to Shift Stuck Patterns in Therapy* led by Kate Williams will take place online on 1 September 2026 at 09:00. The session focuses on trauma-informed and body-based therapeutic approaches, with prices starting at £1.
Bring body-based theories to embed immediately into your practice.
This theoretical and experiential one-hour workshop introduces counsellors to the principles of somatic psychology and its application in clinical practice. As research continues to highlight the interconnectedness of mind and body, integrating somatic awareness into therapy can deepen client engagement, support emotional regulation, and enhance therapeutic outcomes. You'll be introduced to some of the original thinkers in body-mind therapies such was Wilhelm Reich (founder of body psychotherapy and key concept of body armouring), Stanley Keleman (formative psychology), Alexandra Lowen (bio-energetics) and how these were later applied by thinkers such as Resmaa Menakem who presents a contemporary evolution of somatic psychology.
Participants will explore the role of tensions patterns, breath limitations and posture on mood, wellbeing and emotional processing and learn simple body-based interventions that can be safely integrated into talking therapies, whilst gaining a greater understanding of how somatic awareness can support trauma-informed practice. You'll learn more about anchoring for nervous system regulation and resilience building. The session will combine theory with practical techniques that can be immediately applied in the therapy room, regardless of therapeutic modality.
Ideal for qualified counsellors, psychotherapists, and trainees seeking to expand their clinical toolkit with evidence-informed, embodied approaches to psychological wellbeing.
