About This Event

Introduction to Fused Glass Jewellery is a workshop where participants can create fused glass jewellery under expert guidance. The class takes place at Arthouse, South Brent Old School Community Centre in Plymouth on 13 September 2026, costing £76.55.

Make your own beautiful and unique fused glass jewellery such as pendants, earrings and brooches in a small class with an experienced tutor.

If you love beautiful glass jewellery, this is the class for you! In this 3 hour introductory class led by professional glass artist and tutor, Annette Daly, you will learn how to make unique fused glass jewellery such as pendants, earrings and brooches. The design possibilities and colour combinations are almost unlimited so you can choose to make some pieces in your favourite colours for yourself or make some special pieces as gifts for friends and family.

Running in Arthouse, South Brent, a wonderful hub of creative courses and experiences with lovely views over Dartmoor, this course is open to beginners as well as those who have some fused glass experience. You will learn the basics of simple glass jewellery design and will have some time to plan your pieces on paper before learning and practising skills such as cutting and grinding the glass components for your pieces. You will use top quality Bullseye glass and accessory glass such as stringer, nuggets and frit (ground glass), some of which is unique to Annette Daly Glass to make your totally individual pieces. Depending on how intricate your pieces are, you can expect to make several sets of jewellery during this class.

After the class your pieces will be fired in a special glass kiln and will be ready to collect in about two weeks later from Arthouse or my Plymouth studio or they can be posted to you (postage costs are not included in the class fee but are charged at cost).

A selection of basic jewellery findings (components) to finish your pieces are included in the course price and additional findings can be purchased at the class or from a list of recommended specialist suppliers. Your pieces will be returned to you with the findings attached and ready to wear.

This course is suitable for adults and children aged 12+. Occasionally, younger children who have previously done a glass taster course (either with Annette or elsewhere) and who are very keen will be considered if accompanied by an adult. Please contact Annette to discuss before booking children younger than 12 years on this course.

Don’t worry if you are not particularly arty, fused glass is a very forgiving medium and even people who don’t consider themselves ‘arty’ can get fantastic results on this introductory course. There will also be examples and ideas to give you inspiration and get you started.

Refreshments (tea, coffee and cake) are provided on this course to help keep your creative juices flowing.

The course will be run in a small group to ensure lots of individual attention and is subject to a minimum number of people attending. If less than the minimum sign up to this workshop, you will be offered the chance to transfer to another session or will be offered a full refund of the course fee.

NEXT STEPS: Annette also runs Intermediate and Advanced Fused Glass jewellery courses (including multi-part courses) where you can practise and further develop your skills and learn more techniques or you may decide to apply your fused glass skills to making larger items.

VENUE: The workshop will take place at Arthouse, South Brent which is based in a Victorian school building called South Brent Old School Centre, TQ10 9BP. Arthouse is the pink building on the left. There is limited free parking at Arthouse or lots of free parking at Station Road car park which is a 5 minute walk from Arthouse. Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes before the workshop is due to start.

Booking is essential. Gift vouchers (valid for 1 year and redeemable against all courses) are also available and make fantastic presents.
