The Salisbury Library will host Rising in the Body: Somatic Movement (BMC®) & Embodied Ecology sessions on 25 September 2026, led by Rising in the Body, with additional dates listed in the event details.
31st July: 15:00 – 17:00 14th August: 15:00 – 17:00 28th August: 15:00 – 17:00 11th September: 14:30 – 16:30 25th September: 15:00 – 17:00 A playful, and spontaneous exploration of the living, ever-changing landscape of our bodies and surroundings. Together, we nurture a collective awareness, allowing movement to flow naturally and intuitively. During this 2 hours session we will have a playful, creative and nourishing time . We explore somatic movement practice (BMC®), exploring our relationship with gravity, anatomy, and the environment . Through these experiences, we aim to cultivate ecological embodiment, and a shared sense of community rooted in our connection to the natural world. Our approach is centered on creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for all. A caring space where we listen deeply—both inward and outward experiencing our bodies and natural environments as continuous, relational living systems (Ecological embodiment). It’s a joyful journey that honors the spontaneous flow of life and our interconnectedness within the web of ecology and community. Throughout this journey, we apply movement approaches rooted in Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen’s Body-Mind Centering® , engaging with the body’s living systems and consciousness in an embodied exploration. In this term guests Daniela Polic (Ecologist, PhD at Linnéuniversitetet ) and Dia Karim (Somatics and Healing Arts Practitioner) will join us. They will share their practice and co-facilitate the sessions with Monica. This term is very special, created in collaboration with Dani and Dia, unfolding as a shared journey, a gentle process of discovery and transformation. Together with Dani, we will explore processes such as metamorphosis and phenology—observing the recurring rhythms of life in plants and animals—guiding us to attune to the natural world’s subtle signals. With Dia, we will delve into themes of emergence and belonging, fostering a deeper connection to ourselves and the ecosystems we are part of. Each session stands on its own, welcoming you to drop in whenever it feels right, yet we invite you to consider booking the full term to immerse yourself fully in this interdisciplinary exploration of self and surroundings. To encourage this, we offer a special gift: if you book five sessions, one will be on us. 🙂 Join us on this journey of growth, awareness, and interconnectedness! Quote from participant: ‘Really enjoyed the mixture of structured/ led movement and free flow. The overall structure of the 2 hours worked really well, allowing us to connect with ourselves and feel safe and comfortable before beginning to explore shared touch and movement, and connect with each other. Thank you for facilitating this special space and gently guiding us! The session just felt really enriching’ Looking forward to seeing you there! 🌱🌈✨ If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me:🍃 imprevistodanza@gmail.com Monica De Ioanni (she /they) is a dedicated performing artist, educator, Somatic Movement therapist (BMC®, PDA, PhD) and advocate for movement and environmental awareness.
