In November 2025, a joint Alpine Club and Karabiner Mountaineering Club expedition to Nepal succeeded in making a team ascent of Kyajo Ri, a 6,186m peak in the Khumbu region.

Expedition organiser Andy Stratford joins us to tell the story of the trip and explain why this shapely and relatively little-known 6,000m peak held such appeal for him.

About the talk

Andy will relate the story of the expedition, from its initial planning and the journey through the Khumbu to the team’s successful ascent of Kyajo Ri.

The lecture will offer an insight into the appeal and challenges of organising an expedition to one of the region’s lesser-known peaks, illustrated with photographs from the journey and the climb.

The talk will last approximately one hour and will be followed by time for audience questions.
