Creative Writing and Nature Walk takes place at Aesthete Coffee + Kitchen in Sheffield on 7 November 2026. Tickets cost between £9.00 and £12.00 for a reflective walk focusing on nature and local history.
A creative, reflective walk with lots of opportunities to write and talk about nature and the forgotten stories of Sheffield's residents.
On this walk starting in Victorian Walkley, we'll meet at Aesthete Coffee and Kitchen on South Road and stroll past landmarks in Walkley's history, including Sheffield's only surviving Carnegie Library, and the building where John Ruskin started his first museum. After a short journey through Victorian streets, we'll arrive at St Mary's cemetery, consecrated in 1880 to cater for the growing population of Sheffield. Within its walls are a significant number of war graves. We'll take a leisurely route around the cemetery, walking through Rivelin Jewish Cemetery and St Michael's Roman Catholic Cemetery, finding out about the human stories researched by The Friends of Walkley Cemetery About | Walkley Cemetery (https://walkleycemetery.wordpress.com/about/) and also observing the autumnal nature we discover on our walk.
We'll have another cafe writing stop at Rivelin Park cafe, before following the Rivelin downstream to finish our walk at Malin Bridge tram stop.
This walk is accessible by public transport via the 95 bus from Sheffield City Centre or the 52a buses from Sheffield City Centre/Hillsborough Interchange. The walk will end at the Malin Bridge tram stop.
The walk is facilitated by Anne Grange, who first came to Sheffield in 1995. A keen nature-lover who enjoys exploring hidden corners of Sheffield, Anne is a novelist, poet and editor and her latest novel, Field Values, is out now!
