About Art Hike

Are you an artist, designer, creative practitioner or simply enjoy creative activities and events? Do you like hiking and the great outdoors? Would you like to combine the two to take a walk with other creative and like-minded people?

The aims of Art Hike are to make new connections, encourage collaborations, exchange ideas and to simply have a really good day out away from our busy work lives – come and join us!

Art Hike was established in 2007 by artists Robin Widdowson and Adele Jackson who both have a passion for creative endeavour and the great outdoors.

Brief description of the Hike:

A fabulous and varied hike though moorlands, well-trod pathways and repurposed rail tracks. Take in some great views overlooking some beautiful landscapes overlooking Langsett, Black Hill, Harden and Penistone.

Some areas at the beginning of the walk are a little challenging, so we will take our time to ensure that this is suitable for all abilities

We will be stopping for a comfort break before lunch and will settle for our pack-ups near Langsett Barn before taking a steady pathway through a wildlife reserve and onto the Trans Pennine Trail taking us back to our meeting point.

Calling in for a lovely drink after the hike for those who want to round off the day with refreshments.

What to wear:

Its Autumn, so please be prepared, we hope for good weather however it could be unsettled. Please bring waterproofs, and warm clothes, hats, gloves etc. Sturdy footwear is essential. If you are responsible for others, please ensure that they are suitably dressed.

Well behaved dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on leads at all times

What to bring:

Please bring a packed lunch & refreshments, water and money, and art material if you want too.

Please note: You will be solely responsible for your own safety and transport arrangements. We accept no responsibility for any loss, injury or illness as a result of joining the hike. Robin is trained in first aid and will carry a first aid kit.
