About This Event

Heritage Open Days 2026 will feature 'Walk the Streets in the Sky' at Park Hill on 12 September 2026 in Sheffield. This event invites participants to explore the landmark Park Hill, known for its brutalist architecture. Admission to the event is free.

Explore a brutalist icon and its bold reinvention

Park Hill has been a visible landmark on the Sheffield skyline for over 60 years. It is considered of international importance due to being the first built example of external access decks (known as Streets in the Sky) and was awarded Grade II* listing in 1998. There followed a regeneration scheme, twice shortlisted for the Stirling prize for architecture in 2013 and 2024, which continues today. It is also culturally prominent, having featured in film, tv, music, artworks and on stage.

Park Hill Residents’ Association invite you on our resident-led 90 minute tour to walk the Streets in the Sky for Heritage Open Days 2026. You will learn about the history of Park Hill, its inspirations, its architectural concepts and details, the people involved in its story, and gain an insight into life here today.
