On 17 September 2026, Let's Walk: Historic Canal Walk will take place at Victoria Quays in Sheffield. Volunteers will lead participants along the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal to explore more than two hundred years of local history. The event offers an outdoor experience featuring various performers as part of this historic tour. Admission is free for those joining the walk.
Join us on a walk along the canal to discover over 200 years of history at Victoria Quays on the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal.
About this event
Our wonderful volunteers are leading these historic walks.
Starting at 11am and lasting around 2 and a half hours the meeting point is outside Victoria Junction Cafe, Victoria quays, Furnival Rd, Sheffield S2 5SY
Due to the cobbles and stairs on this walk, we don't believe its accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs. The Walk lasts approximately 2 and a half hours. Please bring comfortable footwear and clothing to suit the weather conditions.
Getting here:
Location: Victoria Junction Cafe, Victoria quays, Furnival Rd, Sheffield S2 5SY
Public Transport:
Buses: 5, 24 Sheffield, 25, 97 Sheffield, 98 Sheffield, X54 Sheffield and X74 Sheffield bus routes will take you to bus stops nearby
Train: It's approximately a 15minute walk from Sheffield Train Station to get to the Canal and River Trust Office at Victoria Quays.
Parking: The Victoria Quays Car park is the closest car park to the walk meeting point.

Please book one time slot per person. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your booked slot. These sessions are designed for adults and for children as an introduction to walking and are easy grade along our amazing towpaths. Learn a bit of history or see some awesome wildlife which is around every turn on our waterways .
Parents and Guardians are required to accompany their children on this walk.
