Short walk for those coming by train. The walk starts by cutting through the woodland/graveyard to Texaco garage, cross over the road and then up The Crofts road then straight on down an alley that comes out at Hood Brook. We then follow this stream upriver until we can cross it. We then ascend up to Birley Lane, walk down it briefly until we can veer off onto a footpath, steadily ascending up the hill, we cross over the road to walk down a country/farm road then take another footpath further up the hill, through woodland onto the moors and another country road. We walk down this road briefly until we can take a footpath onto the moorland and follow it along the picturesque Bamford Edge for stunning views of Ladybower Reservoir. Will aim for lunch somewhere along here. We continue along the clifftops until the path starts swings round, we then ascend up higher onto the moors, its then a flat walk along the tops to Standedge and Robin Hood's Cave. Will stop here for a bit also. Once ready to continue we carry along the clifftops until we come out onto a major road called The Dale. We cross over and continue crossing over another road and then come upon a rock formation called Higgor Tor which we'll go to the top of. It is then a steady descent down to the ancient woodl
