Reduction Linocut Printmaking – 3 Week Course

Join us in the studio for a relaxed, three-part evening course exploring the fascinating process of reduction lino printing.

Running over three consecutive Tuesday evenings on 6th, 13th and 20th October, from 6–9pm, this course gives you the time and space to really get to grips with designing, carving and printing in layers.

Reduction linocut uses a single lino block to build up a multi-coloured print. After each colour is printed, more of the block is carved away before the next layer is added. The image gradually develops over the three sessions, making the process both exciting and wonderfully absorbing.

Across the course, we’ll guide you through planning your design, choosing and sequencing your colours, registering your prints and carving each stage of your block. You’ll print a small edition, allowing you to see your image develop layer by layer.

This course is ideal if you’ve already tried lino printing and would like to explore the technique in more depth, but beginners are also very welcome. You’ll be supported throughout the process, whether you’re building on existing skills or trying reduction printing for the first time.

By the end of the three weeks, you’ll have your own small edition of hand-printed reduction linocuts, along with the skills and confidence to continue experimenting at home.

All materials and equipment are provided, along with tea, coffee, cake and plenty of time to enjoy the process in our friendly countryside studio.
