Begin your DIRFloortime® journey at our in-person training in Sligo.

Introduction to DIRFloortime® is a two-day course approved by the International Council for Development and Learning (ICDL). This introductory training is a foundational requirement for professionals working toward accreditation as ICDL DIRFloortime® practitioners.

In this course, you will examine the central principles of the Developmental, Individual-differences, Relationship-based (DIR®) model, which provides a clear structure for interdisciplinary assessment and support for a wide range of developmental needs.

DIRFloortime® is a neurodiversity-affirming relationship- based approach grounded in evidence informed practice. This training will support you to deepen your understanding of behaviour and strengthen your ability to recognise and build on each child’s unique strengths, interests and ways of engaging with the world. You will gain practical strategies to confidently support meaningful participation, connection and development for children and families across home, school, and community settings.

The course is relevant to a wide range of professionals, including Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Social Care Workers, Social Workers, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Therapy Assistants, Early Years Specialists, and Educators, as well as anyone working in healthcare, education, or family support settings.

ICDL Research

This course will be delivered by Maria Lynch, Occupational Therapist (OT). Maria qualified as an OT in 1999 and throughout her career, has been dedicated to supporting children and families. She is passionate about helping families and colleagues understand the “why” behind behaviour and supporting developmental growth through relationships and tailored interactions that reflect each child’s individual profile.

Maria is a training leader with ICDL, delivering online teaching internationally as well as in-person training throughout Ireland. She is also certified in Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California. Alongside her work within the public health system in the Republic of Ireland, she provides Occupational Therapy consultancy services across Ireland.
