A staged approach to asana is a wellness workshop on 25 April 2027. It will be held at the Women's Institute in St Just. The session will cover anatomy and movement principles using the Posture Profile tool.
In this workshop, participants will explore the use of the Posture Profile - a key tool in modern teacher training - to approach asana with a focus on anatomy, physiology, and movement principles. The aim is to move beyond simply replicating postures, instead considering limiting factors, vulnerable areas, and how to use stages as preparation and modifications. Attendees will: Learn how to apply the Posture Profile format. Practise asana using a staged approach to ensure accessibility and safety. This workshop is designed to enhance both teaching and personal practice, offering insights that help participants build a more inclusive and informed approach to yoga. It is suitable for teachers, student teachers, and experienced practitioners. Zoe Knott is a Diploma Course Tutor for the British Wheel of Yoga and has previously served as the DCT Training Officer on the BWY Training Committee. With over 40 years of yoga practice across various traditions, Zoe’s teaching focuses on building strength as the foundation for all poses. She breaks down asana into their components, analysing which muscles need to be strengthened or made more flexible, and works progressively to help students master each pose. For any questions before booking, Zoe can be contacted at: zoeknott45@gmail.com.
