Skill Bootcamp in Women in Construction
The Skills Bootcamp in Women in Construction is designed for women aged 19+ who are looking to start, return to, or progress their career in the construction industry. It is suitable for women who are new to construction, those returning to the industry after a career break, individuals already working in construction who want to refresh and develop their practical skills, and women who are considering setting up their own construction-related business or working on a self-employed basis.
The course offers a wide range of benefits, providing learners with practical, industry-relevant skills, knowledge and confidence to support progression within the construction sector. Participants will develop their understanding of different roles and career opportunities within construction, alongside practical skills in areas such as health and safety, hazard mitigation, working at height, PPE, tools, decorating, carpentry and bricklaying. The programme also supports learners to build confidence in working safely on site and understand the standards and expectations of the construction workplace.
Alongside practical construction skills, learners will explore the opportunities and considerations involved in setting up and running their own business, including developing a business idea, understanding what is needed to establish a business and identifying opportunities to generate work. Sessions on marketing and promoting a construction business will help learners understand how to present their services, reach potential customers and develop their business presence.
The Skills Bootcamp helps individuals develop practical construction skills, increase their confidence, explore career and self-employment opportunities and improve their employability, while supporting employers and the wider construction sector to develop a more skilled, confident and diverse workforce.
