About This Event

The Safe Space Notts Training is scheduled to take place in Nottingham on 24 November, commencing at 1pm. This in-person session forms part of a wider training programme specifically designed for workers and volunteers operating within Nottingham's day and night-time economy and hospitality industry. Attendance is free of charge, and the event will feature a range of experienced speakers and trainers. Whilst the venue is yet to be confirmed, the session is anticipated to provide a valuable opportunity for attendees to gain insight into the creation of a safe space. The training programme is expected to encompass a range of topics pertinent to those working in the industry, with the primary objective of fostering a supportive environment. By attending this event, participants will be able to acquire knowledge and skills that will enable them to promote a culture of safety and inclusivity within their respective workplaces.

These free in person sessions are part of Nottingham’s partnership response to improving the safety in our city. This training aims to provide businesses and employees in the Night-time economy with awareness of how to respond towards incidents of violence and abuse in venues or public spaces.

The session is 2 hours long and attendance at this training is part of the requirement to become a Safe Space Pledge venue.

Training Session

The Safe Space Notts training sessions will increase your understanding and awareness of:

Recognising violence, harassment and abuse in venues and public spaces

Consent and sexual harassment

Bystander intervention & challenging inappropriate behaviour

Myths and stereotypes that perpetuate gender-based violence

Creating safe spaces in venues

Supporting victims and survivors

Safe Space Notts initiative

The training session will include discussion of sensitive subjects, including sexual violence and abuse, and sexual harassment. Some participants may find these topics distressing or triggering. Please take care of your wellbeing throughout the session and feel free to step out at any time if you need to. If you need support before, during, or after the session, please let us know and we’ll do our best to help

Participation is restricted to individuals aged 18 and over.
