Stoke Exchange Forum: A Moment for You is a relaxed creative session for people working in arts and culture who are disabled or living with chronic illness. The morning will centre on A You-Coded Practice, a workshop led by The Psyber Giantess. What if our bodies already know how we are meant to create? This workshop is an invitation to return to breath, movement, play and imagination as sources of artistic knowledge. Through kundalini breathing, shaking, drawing and improvisation, participants will explore what a sustainable, “you-coded” creative practice might look like as disabled and chronically ill artists. There will also be space for gentle conversation and shared understanding around living with chronic illness while working in arts and culture, including how it affects our work and us as people. The session will take place in the Drawing Room at Brampton Museum & Art Gallery, with the option to use the gardens if the weather allows. There will be no photography or filming during the workshop. 'bout the facilitator The Psyber Giantess (they/she) is a Ugandan-Ghanaian interdisciplinary artist, dance theatre maker, writer, facilitator and filmmaker. Based between Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham, their work blends performance art and immersive storytelling to explore queerness, neurodivergence, grief and the surreal beauty of being human. They are currently researching dark clown, diasporic dance styles from Africa, Japan and Brazil, and somatic practice.
