About This Event

The Right on Course WhatSUP Duck training day will be held at Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire on 30 September 2026. The session is intended for individuals new to paddling or who have recently bought or gifted an iSUP.

New to paddling, recently bought or gifted an iSUP? The Right on Course ‘WhatSUP Duck’ training day should be perfect for you.

Paddle Start.

Never paddled before, or just once or twice, then the Paddle Start, as its name rather predictably suggests, is the perfect place to start. This will be your first (or early) session on the water. You’ll learn useful skills for an enjoyable paddling experience. Steve will provide you with the basic knowledge to enable you to safely get on and off of the water, make your SUP move - where you want, and return to your start point. This is your first step into the world of paddling, ensuring you feel safe, confident and ready to progress.

Paddle Discover.

Recently bought a SUP? It's a great first craft, and you want to make the most of it? Developing an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling; developing your decision making and practical skills and giving you confidence. Then Paddle Discover is the perfect place for you to start. Steve can guide you on your first steps to becoming an independent paddler for a fun and safe time on the water.

Based on your previous experience and throughout the day Steve will assess your abilities and we will decide whether you are at the Start or Discover Level and tailor the training to your needs. A BCAB eCertificate will be available if you have met the criteria and would like or need evidence of your attendance on the course.

Paddle Safer.

Whilst following the Start or Discover program Steve will also incorporate the Paddle Safer Award which is a very informative course designed to discuss and practice safe processes for journeys on the water. A BCAB eCertificate is also available if you have met the criteria and would like or need evidence of your attendance on the course.
