Join DARCH Collective artists Radha Patel and Umulkhayr Mohamed on this special audio described tour of their exhibition ‘Heaven In The Ground’ at Mission Gallery, Swansea.
Heaven in the Ground is an installation and immersive soundwork, which reflects the artist's diasporic connection to Wales, underscoring its importance as a compassionate and culturally rich land. It brings together their Somali, Indian and Welsh cultural heritages, merging folkloric traditions to create new ecological rituals which challenge colonial narratives of death, decay and exploitation of land. This personalised tour will give you an insight into the artists’ creative processes and a better understanding of how and why they made the work. The tour is led by the artists, who have training in audio describing installations and artworks.
Please note, if you wish to bring a sighted guide or companion with you, you will need to book a ticket for each attendee.

About DARCH
DARCH (b.1994, India/Somaliland/Wales) DARCH is the collaborative practice of disabled Welsh artists Umulkhayr Mohamed and Radha Patel.
As DARCH, our practice is rooted in ritual and the sacredness of our connections to land, ancestors, and spirit. Our creative practice begins with holding ceremonies, gathering in intentional spaces that invite the guidance of plants, the land, and our ancestors. Alongside this, we explore archives and engage in conversations, both between ourselves and with our wider community, both of which help us unearth and shape the voice of our work. These conversations are essential—they are not just dialogue but a form of research, guiding us to understand what our work wants to communicate, embody, and offer to others.Sound work, storytelling, and open exchange form the foundation of our approach, allowing us to foster a creative space that transcends the human and honours a more-than-human world. This orientation reflects our commitment to animism and ancestral honouring, as well as our commitment to prefigurative politics, that is a deliberate experimental implementation of desired future social relations and practices in the here-and-now.

Ymunwch ag artistiaid y DARCH Collective, sef Radha Patel ac Umulkhayr Mohamed, ar y daith sain-ddisgrifiadol arbennig hon o amgylch eu harddangosfa ‘Annwn’ yn Oriel Mission, Abertawe.
Mae Annwn yn osodwaith a seinwaith ymdrochol, sy’n adlewyrchu cysylltiad diasporig yr artist â Chymru, gan danlinellu ei phwysigrwydd fel tir tosturiol sy’n gyfoethog o ddiwylliant. Mae’n dwyn ynghyd eu treftadaeth ddiwylliannol Somaliaidd, Indiaidd a Chymreig, gan uno traddodiadau llên gwerin i greu defodau ecolegol newydd sy’n herio naratifau trefedigaethol am farwolaeth, dadfeiliaid a chamfanteisio ar y tir.
Bydd y daith bersonol hon yn rhoi cipolwg i chi ar brosesau creadigol yr artistiaid a gwell dealltwriaeth o sut a pham y gwnaethant y gwaith. Mae’r daith yn cael ei harwain gan yr artistiaid, sydd wedi cael hyfforddiant mewn sain-ddisgrifio gosodweithiau a gweithiau celf.
Cofiwch, os ydych chi’n dymuno dod â thywysydd neu gydymaith sy’n gallu gweld gyda chi, bydd angen i chi archebu tocyn ar gyfer pawb.
Os ydych chi'n dymuno gofyn am unrhyw gymorth ychwanegol ar gyfer mynediad, neu gysylltu â ni gydag unrhyw gwestiynau, anfonwch e-bost at: info@missiongallery.co.uk
Am DARCH
DARCH (g.1994, India/Somaliland/Cymru) DARCH yw practis cydweithredol yr artistiaid anabl o Gymru Umulkhayr Mohamed a Radha Patel.
Fel DARCH, mae ein hymarfer wedi’i wreiddio mewn defodau a chysegredigrwydd ein cysylltiadau â thir, hynafiaid ac ysbryd. Mae ein hymarfer creadigol yn dechrau drwy gynnal defodau, gan ymgynnull mewn mannau bwriadol sy’n gwahodd arweiniad gan blanhigion, y tir a’n hynafiaid. Ochr yn ochr â hyn, rydym yn archwilio archifau ac yn cymryd rhan mewn sgyrsiau, rhyngom ni a’n cymuned ehangach, sydd i gyd yn ein helpu i ddatgelu a siapio llais ein gwaith. Mae’r sgyrsiau hyn yn hanfodol – maent nid yn unig yn ddeialog ond yn fath o ymchwil, sy’n ein harwain i ddeall beth mae ein gwaith eisiau ei gyfleu, ei ymgorffori a’i gynnig i eraill. Gwaith sain, storïaeth a chyfnewid agored yw sail ein dull gweithredu, gan ein galluogi i feithrin gofod creadigol sy’n mynd y tu hwnt i’r byd dynol ac yn anrhydeddu byd mwy na dynol. Mae’r gogwydd hwn yn adlewyrchu ein hymrwymiad i animistiaeth ac anrhydeddu hynafiaid, yn ogystal â’n hymrwymiad i wleidyddiaeth ragddarluniol, sef gweithrediad arbrofol bwriadol o’r cysylltiadau a’r arferion cymdeithasol a ddeisyfir ar gyfer y dyfodol, yn y presennol.
