Workshop 1: Connect Truro - What We Know

Getting the foundations right

This first workshop will focus on the things that help small organisations become stronger, more organised and better prepared for funding opportunities.

getting your governance and key documents in order

understanding whether your organisation is funding-ready

identifying and explaining local need

turning an idea into a clear project

building a realistic project budget

understanding core costs and project costs

finding funders that are a good fit

working effectively with partners

avoiding some of the common problems that hold applications back

There will also be an opportunity to look at your own organisation or project and identify the areas you need to work on next.You will leave with: a simple funding-readiness checklist, clearer priorities and practical actions to take forward.

Workshop 2: Connect Truro - What We Have Learned

Practical lessons from funding, partnerships and deliveryThe second workshop will draw on Transformation Cornwall's experience of supporting grassroots organisations, developing funding applications, working with funders and delivering projects in partnership.Rather than just looking at how to complete an application form, we will explore some of the wider lessons that can make the difference between a good idea and a project that is genuinely ready to fund and deliver.

building partnerships that have clear roles and responsibilities

There will also be a peer problem-solving session where organisations can bring a current challenge, idea or project to the group.You will leave with: a practical 90-day action plan and new connections with organisations working across Truro and the surrounding communities.

You do not need to be an experienced fundraiser or have a completed project idea. The sessions are suitable for both established organisations and groups that are still developing.
