The 'Round our Way' volunteers offer this fascinating walk around the village of Heath which takes you into the heart of Heath's herstory, her secrets, her artists, her writers, her engineers, her architecture and her landscape. Learn how women like Dame Mary Bolles, Lady Green, Eliza Eve Gleadall, Marion Walker and Louise-Adelaide de Bourbon Conde were inspired by the scenery and how their legacies in the field of art, botany, engineering, education and health, continue locally, nationally and internationally, to the present.
And so much more! Parliamentary Spies! French Royal Court!
First offered during 2026 this walk is back by popular request. Taking place on Sunday, 27 September at 11am we'll begin and end outside the Kings Arms pub.
Ticket Information
Tickets for this fundraising event are priced at £10.00 per person. A loyalty discount is available for repeat customers. If you've been on any of our previous walks you're eligible for a £2 discount. Use the code BOOKED at the checkout and your ticket will be £8.00.
Dream Time Creative's Forgotten Women of Wakefield team continue to raise funds to commission a statue to Florence Beaumont, Wakefield's most influential daughter/suffragist, without whom all women would not have achieved the vote in 1928, to be commissioned and sited by 2028.
Event Information
This is an outdoor event and will take place whatever the weather. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for rural walking. Some of the route may be on uneven paths or tracks.
Meet at the front entrance to the Kings Arms public house at Heath Common. Our walk with start and end here.
The walk will begin promptly and we ask that you arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. There is plenty of parking available in the nearby car park.
The walk around Heath will last between 90 minutes and 2 hours, but walk times do vary by 15 / 20 minutes either way. We like to allow sufficient time for photos and questions and no one is ever rushed between stopping points. Please allow up to 2 hours for this walk. It's very special
