Social Sewing is scheduled for 5 November 2026 at Thimblemill Library in Smethwick. This free event invites participants to join sewing groups where they can learn to sew or work on their own projects.
Friendly, fun, free and creative, join us for our social sewing groups, where you can learn to sew or work on your own projects!
Everyone welcome at our friendly and inclusive social sewing events!
You can learn to sew, or bring a project to work on, get help and support from our experienced members and share ideas and skills with others.
All experience levels welcome! You can bring a project, or we have lots of fabrics and bits and pieces for you to make a new project from scratch!
About the venues:
We have sessions at Thimblemill Library every Thursday and on the 2nd Saturday of each month. On the 4th Thursday and 2nd Saturday of each month we are in the Community Room and have sewing machines to use. You can find this room straight in front of the doors when you come in. We have sewing machines for these sessions.
On the other Thursdays, we are in the main library space - turn left when you come through the front doors. We do hand sewing only in this space - embroidery, toy making, mending, making bags and accessories, patchwork, quilting and more!
On Wednesdays we are at Bearwood Community Hub Warm Welcome at the Baptist Church Hall. The hall is behind the church, through a big white door on Rawlings Road, just off Bearwood high st. We have sewing machines, hand sewing and crochet at this event.
This event can be quite noisy and busy, as there is a community lunch, pay as you feel shop and other activities going on. You can stay for the lunch (pay as you feel donation) and get clothes and household things from the shop.
