Get arty in Naburn, York! Enjoy a creative art workshop celebrating the joyous colours of Autumn in a loose style - splatter away!

The event will be held in the larger room at Tea By The Lock (The Ballroom). Those who come to the workshop will be welcome to buy refreshements at the lovely plant-based tearoom (not included in ticket price).

The workshop is run by a talented local artist and illustrator specialising in pen and wash techniques. If you are new to drawing and painting landscapes, this is a great chance to have a go at the line-and-wash technique, combining pen work with liquid paint colour. If you have more experience and would like to expand your art experience with a looser style, this would be a great chance to explore line and wash illustration with plenty of freedom to experiment.

I will provide some examples of my work as inspiration, and give a demonstration, and then you will be free to have a go yourself. I will bring examples of pictures to work from, although if you prefer, you could try to interpret your own photograph if you have one you would like to bring.

There will be a selection of art materials to share and try, including pencils, pens and paint, as well as paper and brushes. If you wanted to bring your own sketchbook or paper to work on, or if you have favourite brushes you wish to use, you'd be welcome to do so.

If you are worried about getting messy (some of the pens are permanent and there will be a lot of splishing, splatting and splottering), you may wish to bring an apron and gloves, and it is worth remembering your glasses if you wear them.

Tea By The Lock is a wonderful venue, and the location itself offers a relaxed atmosphere, is dog-friendly, has a plant-based menu, and is close to both a bus stop and the lock carpark. It is past the caravan park, down the track through the gate, and to the right, by the Lock.
