A Feldenkrais workshop led by Jackie Adkins will take place in Rise, Frome, focusing on improving movement efficiency in daily tasks. Participants will explore floor-based movement lessons to enhance comfort and vitality, as well as relaxation and well-being. The workshop aims to benefit those looking to improve their performance in various activities.
About: Whether it's making your way out of bed, getting up from a chair or going to the floor to play with small children, many of us encounter challenges in changing spatial levels. This workshop will look at finding efficient pathways from up to down and down to up, using the floor-based movement lessons of the Feldenkrais Method. Benefits: • Learning easier ways to do everyday tasks • Greater feeling of comfort & vitality • A sense of relaxation & well-being • Ability to breathe more easily & fully • More satisfying performance in sport, exercise & the performing arts Testimonials: “I enjoy the deep sense of relaxation that evolves during a class. With regular classes and practice, I am more aware of when tension is building up in my body and have ways of dealing with it. Jackie is a teacher who just gets on with it which helps me to get the most out of the class.” “For me Feldenkrais is like mindfulness for the body. I love how it connects you to your body and allows you to explore how it works and create new habits to make everyday movements freer. The classes with Jackie have made me more aware of my habitual ways of moving and allowed me to experiment with new postures and ways of doing things. Although the exercises seem very simple and slow they require complete concentration and there is no competitive edge because each student is exploring their own body and habits. I come away from each class standing taller and more aware of how I am moving. I suffer from lower back problems and I’ve always felt safe doing the exercises and felt more flexible afterwards. Jackie is an excellent teacher, she is calm, confident and positive. There is no judgement or criticism, the classes are a place for exploration and discovery.” Suitable for: All abilities, although you must be able to get to the floor and up again. What to bring/wear: Wear warm, comfortable clothes, including socks. Bring a mat and/or blanket to lie on and a folded towel to use as a head rest. Additional information: Jackie Adkins is a qualified Feldenkrais practitioner with 24 years experience. She runs classes, workshops and individual sessions in Frome and Bristol.
