About This Event

Belfast, Silhouette: People-Centred Storytelling with Glenn Patterson will run at The Seamus Heaney Centre in Belfast on 17 October 2026. This three-week series of workshops will explore the concept of storytelling centred around people.

A three week series of workshops looking at the idea of people-centred storytelling.

Participants need to be available for all three sessions. All levels of prior creative writing experience (including none!) are welcome. We are particularly keen to welcome workshop participants with limited knowledge of Belfast and its contested histories.

This three week workshop encourages participants to explore how they can introduce a people-centered storytelling approach in their own creative practice, using examples drawn from Glenn Patterson’s work. Each week has a specific focus with a mix of creative writing prompts and practical skills exercises to help you develop future creative projects of your own.

Sessions are themed as follows:

Introduction to People-Centered Storytelling;

Family History, Everyday Heroes;

Interviewing Skills, Radio & Voice.
