Welcome to the HIV Awareness event! Join us at Terrence Higgins Trust in Brighton to learn more about HIV prevention, testing, and support services available in our community.
HIV Awareness Training - in person
This is an in-person event providing the dedicated space and time to learn and reflect on how HIV affects our communities.
A lot has changed in the 40+ years since the AIDS crisis of the 1980s. The course is suitable for anyone who would like to update their knowledge and understanding of HIV. It is also aimed at professionals who may encounter people living with HIV in the course of their work, and who would like knowledge and information about how best to support them and meet their needs. Brighton & Hove has the largest population of people living with HIV outside of London.This event includes guest speakers from our Positive Voices programme, who share their personal stories about living with HIV. Participants have the opportunity to be in conversation with them and ask questions.
*If you would like to book several staff onto the training, please contact us at brightontraining@tht.org.uk, as we may be able to deliver in-house training to you instead.

• Current Snapshot of HIV in the UK and Worldwide
• Definitions of HIV & Terminology
• HIV Transmission
• HIV Prevention Methods
• HIV Treatment Overview
• Impact of HIV Stigma and Discrimination
• Hear the personal experience of someone living with HIV
• Case Studies
The training will take place at the Terrence Higgins Trust office in central Brighton from 10am - 4pm. Please arrive by 09:45 so we can start promptly at 10am.
Free places are offered to people who live or work in Brighton & Hove only. These are funded by Public Health, Brighton & Hove City Council. For more information or queries around who is eligible please contact Rory by email or call.
