Building Trust and Working Together
A practical morning exploring how stronger relationships turn shared purpose into meaningful action.
Meaningful collaboration requires more than a shared goal.
It takes trust. Strong relationships. Honest communication. And a willingness to bring different people, perspectives and resources together.
Building Trust and Working Together brings business leaders, founders, academics and changemakers together for a practical and thought-provoking morning at UWE Bristol.
Through lightning talks, interactive learning, live conversation and purposeful connection, we’ll explore the human skills that make collaboration work—and what becomes possible when industry, entrepreneurship and academia work together.
Because none of us can create meaningful change alone!
Bringing the Inner Development Goals to Life:
The Inner Development Goals are a globally recognised framework identifying the human skills and qualities needed to create meaningful, sustainable change.
One of its five dimensions is Collaborating: Building Trust and Working Together.
This includes our ability to:
Build trust and meaningful relationships
Communicate effectively
Create inclusive environments
Mobilise people around shared goals
Co-create across teams, organisations and sectors
These aren’t abstract ideas. They influence how effectively we lead, develop partnerships, communicate and turn shared ambition into action.
This event will bring those skills to life through practical learning, real examples and conversations grounded in the realities of leadership, business and collaboration.
What to Expect:
Mobilising People for Change
A lightning talk exploring sustainability in practice, the skills needed to mobilise others and why meaningful change depends on collaboration.
Because you can’t change the world by yourself.
Building Stronger Relationships
An interactive workshop exploring the skills and behaviours that help us build trust, strengthen professional relationships and work more effectively with others.
You’ll have the opportunity to reflect on your own approach and identify practical actions you can take back into your organisation.
Communicating to Collaborate
A lightning talk exploring the role of communication in helping people understand an idea, engage with it and work towards a shared goal.
Intro to UWE Business Bridge
What if businesses didn’t need to understand everything a university could offer before starting a conversation?
UWE Business Bridge flips the usual approach.
It gives businesses the opportunity to introduce who they are, what they do and what they’re trying to achieve. UWE Bristol and HUM4NS can then explore how the university’s people, knowledge and resources could potentially support those ambitions.
This might include:
Student and graduate talent
Internships and placements
Research and specialist expertise
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
Innovation and business support
Connections across the university and wider ecosystem
Creating a Legacy Beyond the Event
There won’t be an opportunity for businesses to present on the day. Instead, attendees will be the first to hear more about UWE Business Bridge and register their interest in taking part.
Following the event, attending businesses will be invited to put themselves forward by sharing more about their organisation, ambitions and current challenges.
UWE Bristol and HUM4NS will review those submissions and identify where there may be relevant opportunities for further conversation and collaboration.
Selected businesses will then be invited to take part in a future UWE Business Bridge: Live session—meeting relevant contacts face-to-face and exploring how UWE Bristol might help them move their ambitions forward.
