Join us for the annual Legal Service at Bristol Cathedral on Tuesday 6 October 2026 at 5:30pm, marking the beginning of the Legal Year and the Michaelmas Law Term.

Coordinated by the High Sheriff of Bristol, Mrs Anne Nisbet DL, this year’s service will reflect on the theme of recognising organisations working with young people from under-resourced communities that provide them with opportunities and aspiration to support them in making the right choices and the vital role that young people have in shaping our future.

Practical Information:

Dress code: Uniform, robes or lounge suits. Traditional dress is warmly welcomed.

Robing: Judges, civic dignitaries, armed forces members, and members of the College of Canons are invited to robe and process. Aldermen/women may robe, but will not process.

Please indicate whether you will be robing when booking.

Those robing and processing should arrive at the Cresswell Centre, Bristol Cathedral Choir School by 4:30pm, where tea and coffee will be served.

All other guests are kindly asked to be seated in the Cathedral by 5:15pm.

Please note: There is no parking at the Cathedral. Nearby parking is available at Millennium Square or College Street.

Refreshments will be served in the Cathedral following the service. All are warmly invited to stay.

There will be a retiring collection for the High Sheriff’s charity, Bristol Youth Community Action (BYCA).
