A creative workshop and qigong session, 'Winter Solstice: Finding Your Flow', will be held at Paula Armstrong Ceramics in Fenstanton, focusing on winter themes.
Pause this December with flowing inks, mark-making, gelli printing and gentle qigong, inspired by winter and the Water element.
Make a little space for yourself this winter
In the days before Christmas, when there always seems to be something else to do, join Elemental Art Flow for an afternoon of creativity, gentle movement and breathing room.
Inspired by nature and Five Element Theory, this three-hour workshop explores the seasonal element of Water: an invitation to slow down, notice how you feel and discover what happens when you allow yourself to create without a planned outcome.
You’ll work with inks, expressive mark-making and gelli plate printing, alongside gentle qigong movements. There’s no artistic experience needed and no expectation to make something polished. We’ll offer guidance and encouragement while giving you space to explore in your own way.
What we’ll explore
Flowing inks and expressive mark-making
Explore colour, gesture and the movement of ink across a surface. Make marks in response to how you feel, follow your curiosity and allow the materials to surprise you.
Gelli plate printing
Experiment with layers, textures and colour using a soft printing plate. Each print offers a fresh discovery as you lift the paper and reveal what has emerged.
Gentle qigong
Guided movements and attention to the breath will offer moments to pause between creative activities and reconnect with your body.
The winter Water element
In Five Element Theory, Water is associated with winter. We’ll draw on the season’s quieter rhythms and water’s qualities of movement, adaptability and stillness as starting points for creativity and reflection.
There’s no need to interpret your work or share anything personal. Your marks might express a feeling, follow a rhythm or simply be an experiment with colour.
What to wear
Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little inky.
Who is this workshop for?
You’re welcome whether you already enjoy making or haven’t felt comfortable calling yourself creative.

Are curious about the connections between nature, creativity and movement.
