About your host:
I am Anna-Amalia, a multidisciplinary artist and therapeutic arts practitioner that enjoys painting, illustration, murals, installation, poetry, and somatic movement.
I help people explore their creativity, tell their stories, and see themselves reflected in the spaces they inhabit through my work with Well Wagon, where I bring art-based healing directly to the people and places that need it most.
I work with a wide range of marginalised communities - from LGBTQIA+ groups, D/deaf participants, neurodivergent individuals, people living with dementia, young people accessing mental health services and children with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
My approach is person-centred, trauma informed, and rooted in social engagement, creating spaces where self-expression, connection, and transformation can flourish.
The aim with my work is to amplify voices, nurture resilience, and make art a tool for collective wellbeing.
I make art that expresses aspects of the human condition, with all it’s joy and turmoil. The aim is to share publicly themes that are unspoken and to find a cathartic release in this process.
I value art that challenges perception and self belief, shares power with all stakeholders and empowers through process rather than outcome.
Why now?
I’ve been wanting to create a deeper space for a while that feels different from a two hour workshop, but my confidence has always stopped me in my tracks with questions like:
How could you hold a healing space while you’re still going through it?
Do you think people will come and trust you?
What if it doesn’t make sense?
I don’t know the answers to these questions, but I do know that growth is not linear, is not always comfortable and is sometimes scary- but it also doesn’t have to be heavy.
This is a space that welcomes you just as you are, honouring your process and meeting you where you are at now. The journey is shared, open, held in the woodlands and with plenty of art activities to express what may be lying dormant.
You don’t have to be an artist to make art, every ability is welcomed.
