Geographer and broadcaster Nicholas Crane , travel writer Simon Parker and environmentalist Daze Aghaji celebrate the richness and variety of Britain's landscapes and the joy of exploring them off the beaten track. In a year that has seen the launch of the King Charles III England Coast Path and the designation of the Coast to Coast National Trail, Nicholas uncovers the hidden history beneath our feet, revealing how a vast network of paths has connected people for centuries, from prehistoric migration routes and pilgrim ways to coffin roads and coastal trails. Marking the 75th anniversary of the UK's National Parks, Simon cycled through all fifteen, immersing himself in the landscapes and communities that define them. They explore the quirks, encounters and freedoms of slow travel and show you the best way to discover our nation – through its wild places, one step at a time.
