Bestselling author Paul Howard in conversation with Mick Clifford
We are delighted to welcome Paul Howard to Waterstones Cork to read from and discuss his new novel A Nation Once Again. Paul is a journalist, author and comedy writer best known as the creator of the No 1 bestselling Ross O'Carroll-Kelly series. He has won a record four Irish Book Awards and is a former Irish Sports Journalist of the Year and Irish Newspaper Columnist of the Year.
In the hilarious A Nation Once Again we meet Fiach O’Bric: career diplomat, recent widower, and a man looking forward to a peaceful retirement. But just when he thinks he's out, he is strong-armed into taking over a shadowy top-secret department tasked with preparing for a United Ireland — a job so surreal it makes his last posting, in Beijing, seem like a Buddhist retreat.
I had a great time reading A Nation Once Again. It is hilarious, bang-on, even slightly disturbing - everything I love about Paul Howard's writing. - Roddy Doyle
Funny, smart and provocative, the scariest thing about this novel is that it might be based on fact. - John Boyne
Paul will be joined for this event by Mick Clifford, one of Ireland’s leading journalists and a writer with a keen eye for the satirical and the absurd
