Join us to build bird boxes for Blue tits and Robins.

Welcome to our event: Bird Box Building for Blue tits and Robins

Our hand made nest box kits come with custom-made parts from our woodwork team, with the holes are already drilled, so all you need is one of our a hammers and some nails to assemble it with us. The rangers will give you all the instructions you need, making it easy for children and adults alike to take the lead, with just a little supervision from the Ranger.

Once your nest box is complete, we encourage the children to express their creativity by decorating it with wildlife-friendly markers. Once finished you will be able to hang the nest box in a sheltered area of your garden, about 1.5-2 metres from the floor, and wait to see if a Blue Tit, Great Tit, Robin, or a Wren moves in!

With natural nesting sites in decline, adding a nest box to your garden can make all the difference to your local birds. By building a nest box with the rangers you will keep birds coming back to your garden year after year. Nest boxes placed in gardens can make a real difference to the success or failure of a breeding species in an area, especially when accompanied by the regular supply of suitable food and water. All tools and materials will be supplied.

If you want to make a team/family bird box, we would recommend no more than 2 people per box building it.
