The Discourse Series lecture titled Diversity in research takes place on 30 September 2026 at the Royal Irish Academy in Dublin with no admission charge. Professor Liselotte Højgaard will give a lecture followed by a response from Professor Linda Hogan.

The Royal Irish Academy (RIA) Discourse Series is the oldest and most renowned series of public talks in Ireland. The 2026/27 Discourse Series is focused on the theme of 'diversity' in its many forms.

This event will feature a lecture by Professor Liselotte Højgaard, Chair of the European Research Council’s (ERC) Gender and Diversity Working Group, with a response from Professor Linda Hogan, Member of the RIA (MRIA), Secretary to the RIA and Professor of Ecumenics, School of Religion, Trinity College Dublin.

The Discourse will explore diversity across research, including disciplinary diversity, the relationship between fundamental and applied research and different approaches to research funding and support and issues relating to equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

About the Royal Irish Academy

The Royal Irish Academy (RIA), established in 1785, is an all-island, independent learned society and academic body that champions research by supporting and promoting scholarship in the sciences, humanities and social sciences.
