The United Arts Club Theatre Lab

Seven weeks of making, exploring and performing theatre at the United Arts Club.

The United Arts Club Theatre Lab is a collaborative programme for actors, writers, performers and curious creatives interested in exploring theatre through rehearsal, experimentation and performance.

Over seven Sunday sessions, participants will come together to explore and rehearse three works from the theatrical canon:

Oscar Wilde — A Florentine Tragedy

Anton Chekhov — The Marriage Proposal

Lady Gregory — The Shoelace

Through , improvisation, text work, ensemble development and rehearsal, the Lab will explore how these works can be brought to life in an intimate contemporary performance setting.

The programme culminates in two public performances in the United Arts Club's Function Room:

Thursday 12 November

Saturday 14 November

These will be ticketed public performances, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the work developed by the ensemble throughout the Lab.

The Programme

7 Sundays · 10am–4pm

United Arts Club, Dublin

The Lab is intended to be a focused, collaborative environment rather than a conventional acting class. Participants will work as an ensemble, developing their understanding of text, character, physicality and performance while working towards the final showcases.

The €75 Fee

The €75 participant fee covers the full seven-week programme and contributes directly towards the practical costs of making the Lab possible, including room hire, rehearsal space, props, materials and other performance-related expenses.

The aim is to create a professional, supportive environment in which participants can commit to the process and see the work through from initial exploration to live performance.

Who is it for?

The Theatre Lab is open to actors, writers, performers and creatives who want to engage seriously and collaboratively with theatre.

You don't need to arrive with a finished idea. The Lab is about coming together, exploring the work and discovering what can happen in rehearsal.
