MINDFUL SINGING WORKSHOP
Join me on this journey where you’ll learn some simple voice exercises to befriend your voice, along with gentle and uplifting songs that we’ll sing together.
You’ll leave feeling more confidence, self acceptance and curiosity of what is possible when you move out of your comfort zone and learn to sing from the heart.
-----------------------------
WHY SING?
Many of us enjoyed singing as a child but at some point were told we can’t sing or decided to only allow ourself to do it in the shower or on our own in the car - where no one could hear. Cultural conditioning has played a huge part in people shutting down their voices - be that singing or simply speaking honestly and confidently.
With so much emphasis on ‘performance’ and ‘talent’ in our culture it’s easy to forget that singing is something we humans have done since the dawn of time.
We are social creatures, and singing together in community is one of the oldest forms of collective bonding. Anthropologists believe communal singing likely played an important role in human cooperation long before modern societies existed.
Singing has been shown to reduce levels of cortisol, one of the body’s primary stress hormones. Which explains why many people report feeling calmer, more grounded, and emotionally lighter afterwards.
-----------------------------
I believe this is for everyone, whether you are technically skilled or not. I’ve experienced the transformative nature of opening my voice to a higher purpose beyond ‘performance’, but for healing and the simple joy of self expression from the heart.
We can rewrite the stories and beliefs we have around singing, and it all starts with intention and the courage you try!
-----------------------------
Come as you are - refreshments and song words provided along with recordings of songs sent afterwards to continue your singing journey.
