Step out of the cold and into the comforting warmth of a festive kitchen, where the scent of cinnamon, saffron, and fresh baking fills the air. This hands-on workshop is a joyful journey through winter traditions from around the world – a chance to slow down, get creative, and connect with the heart of seasonal celebration. Together, we’ll explore three beautiful bakes that each tell a story: rich marzipan-filled s tollen from Germany golden Saffron Buns of Sweden’s Saint Lucia Day buttery, aromatic Festive Spiced Shortbread – a creative twist on a classic Scottish biscuit Whether you’re a seasoned baker or simply love the magic of festive food, this workshop offers a cosy, welcoming space to learn, create, and take home treats that will light up your winter table. These recipes are more than just delicious, they’re steeped in culture, warmth, and the spirit of sharing. You’ll leave inspired and ready to continue baking at home. Our workshops are fun and informal and our tutors will support you in preparing the recipes. We’ll chat and answer questions as we go. The course is suitable for beginners and people with some experience interested in trying out something new. Please bring boxes to take home your creations. The Lang Spoon Community Kitchen The Lang Spoon Community Kitchen is part of Greener Kirkcaldy’s community building. We’re based in the heart of Kirkcaldy, close to the High Street and the train and bus station. Find out how to get here . Our purpose built training kitchen has eight workstations, replicatig the ease and comfort of cooking at home. Our cookery school is complemented by a productive and climate-friendly garden, where we run volunteer training sessions and grow seasonal herbs, fruit and vegetables to use in our classes and events. We also have a larger community training garden and orchard in Dysart. We host a wide range of events, courses and workshops on all aspects of food and drink. Both our Community Training Kitchen and Production Kitchen are available for hire too. Booking Information Full price: £54 Friends/couples*: £93 (£46pp) Greener Kirkcaldy members/volunteers: £49 Concessions**: £43 *Two people enjoy the cooking experience together using the same ingredients. ** Greener Kirkcaldy is committed to accessibility and we offer a concession rate to people in receipt of the following benefits: Students (full time), Senior Citizens (65+), eligible benefits (Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income based Employment and Support Allowance, Housing Benefit and Universal Credit). We also offer a free basic community cooking skills and household budgeting programme to help people on a low income cook healthy and affordable meals: Smart Cooking Our booking form includes a series of optional anonymous questions. These help us learn more about the people we reach through our events. Any information you choose to share about your background is managed separately to information that you give us to process your booking (for example, your name). If you cancel your order less than 7 days before the event we will be unable to provide a refund. Accessibility There are accessible parking bays available outside 8 East Fergus Place. There is a ramp into the building and level access throughout. There is also an accessible toilet. Our kitchen has an adjustable cooking station. This is suitable for those in wheelchairs or who need to sit while cooking.
