The Mindful Line is a drawing techniques class for art and wellbeing held at The Burrell Collection on 24 October 2026. The session is designed for all skill levels to build drawing confidence. Tickets are priced between £47.04 and £51.52.
Tickets on sale 10am, Friday 10th July 2026 You don't need to think of yourself as "an artist" to take this class. It teaches you to draw with confidence and to use drawing as a way to quiet a busy mind. You'll learn from celebrated nineteenth-century artists; among them Daumier and Millet, who drew ordinary people and everyday working life. Explore the techniques of Manet and Ingres, whose observations shaped how we draw the human form. Working from a clothed life model, you can explore tone, colour, media handling and more, then adapt what you discover to your own practice. It's also a rare chance to study original drawings up close. In a small, supportive group, you'll get near to the work itself including several being exhibited for the very first time. Through focused demonstrations, quick studies, and longer, absorbing drawings, you'll build genuine skill and discover how deep concentration steadies the mind. Sustained drawing anchors your attention in the present and tips you into the state psychologists call flow: one of the most dependable ways to ease stress and lift your mood. Come whether you're picking up a pencil for the first time or returning to a long-loved practice -to sharpen your technique, to support your wellbeing, or simply for the quiet satisfaction of making. The session will take place 11 am – 4 pm and will include an hour break for lunch (which is not provided). Details of how to get to the Burrell and info on car parking can be found here.
