About This Event

Tramway in Glasgow will host a Sonica Glasgow event, Red Road, on 24 September 2026, with ticket prices available on the venue's website.

A new collaboration between video artist Zarchi and composer and sound artist Itö considers the continuing state of crisis in Myanmar. Over the six years of the current civil war, the hillside town of Kalaw – accessed by the uneven, unsurfaced red earth roads that give their work its title – has become a site of escape, which in the artists’ installation signifies not retreat or defeat, but a necessary pause for survival, regrouping, and building resilience for a fight to come. Sand and earth are baked into Zarchi’s images of Kalaw, with a soundtrack composed by Itö. This project is supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture Programme.
