Matthew James Higham recently took to the Proms stage (BBC Proms solo debut) to perform Varèse’s Density 21.5, with Bachtrack praising his “wealth of expression” and the piece’s haunting atmosphere. Now, join us at Westbourne Music for an unforgettable lunchtime recital with Matthew. A former student of The Purcell School for Young Musicians, Matthew is an award-winning flautist who has performed as a soloist at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and St Martin-in-the-Fields. Following further studies in Cologne and Frankfurt, he held a position with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony before joining the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Alongside his orchestral career, Matthew is a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra, a tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and regularly appears as a guest with leading orchestras across Europe.
