Join DLR’s Biodiversity Officer and Goat Herder for an interesting talk about the DLR Goat Project in collaboration with the Old Irish Goat Society (OIGS).

This is a DLR event for local residents and local communities. The DLR Goat Project offers a gentler nature-based solution when compared to the use of machinery to manage areas of vegetation and the increasing challenges of fire-mitigation and habitat restoration. The trained herd of goats help to maintain vital firebreaks, with a non-chemical, non-mechanical and a more environmentally friendly solution. An experienced goat team provide round the clock support and bring a wealth of grazing-project knowledge, and expert advice and the team are supported by DLR Parks staff and volunteers. Join us to hear more about these goats and the amazing work they do and learn about the new GPS technology for tracking the goats.

This is a DLR event for local residents and local communities – is deliberate as this is not for ‘goat tourists’ from other places – it is not that type of event.
