On 15 September 2026, Chalk Grassland Care will carry out conservation work at Deangarden Woods to support native wildlife. The team, led by Ranger Tony Speight, is scheduled to operate on Evergreen Way where visitors can park for observation. This community initiative aims to maintain the chalk grassland habitat without inviting members of the public into the active working area.

We will be working at Deangarden Wood. Please park in Evergreen Way or in the Abbey Barn housing development, please make you you are in a bay marked with a V! The nearest postcode is HP10 9GH.
We will meet you at 10am by the pumping station entrance to the woods, the W3W are: https://what3words.com/rail.gangs.snows. Click here for a visual.
Please can we ask everyone to arrive on time to ensure you do not miss the health & safety and task briefing. If you are late and the session has already started, you may not be able to join. Thank you.
You don't need to print off your Eventbrite ticket!
The Task:
Join us for one of the best views in High Wycombe. Today we will be working in the woodland rides cutting back excess vegetation and raking the chalk grassland. If we have time we will start on the autumn coppicing.
New faces are always welcome, come for an hour or stay for the whole day.
Timings (please note these timings are approximate):
10.00: Arrival for safety briefing, please don't be late!
10.15: Work begins
11.30: Tea & coffee break
1.00: Lunch time, please bring your own.
15.30: Work finishes, time to go home! Thank you!
What to bring:
Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.
Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also recommend wearing steel toe capped or sturdy boots rather than trainers.
Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain. You may need a sun hat and suncream if it's sunny.
Please bring plenty of fluids and a packed lunch. We will bring a tea kit and biscuits.
Access: Deangarden Woods is on a steep slope and may not be suitable for people with limited mobility.
Please note:
Biscuits are served at all Chiltern Rangers sessions. Please advise if you have an allergy.
Sometimes there is a need for us to use power tools that can be noisy.
