This session will explore the linguistic concept that there is no such thing as perfect synonymy. Although words can have similar meanings, it is impossible interchange a word for a synonym without it having slightly different connotations. We will talk about how this applies to content design, where we often have to find plain English alternatives for complex terms. We will also discuss how this concept translates to AI, as it is often the human experience that shapes the differences between synonyms that are difficult to articulate.
