Reading Elias Canetti: A Fear of Touching

The first public airing of the upcoming collection A Fear of Touching: Reflections on British Life and Letters, the previously unpublished private musings of the Nobel Prize winner and Hampstead resident Elias Canetti. Extracts will be read both in the original German and in English translation and range from observations about life as an exile during the Second World War, arch gossip about a rich cast of contemporaries from Iris Murdoch to Enoch Powell and acidic commentary on the rise of Margaret Thatcher.
