Join us to celebrate the publication in paperback of two wonderful novels. Esther Freud and Sofka Zinovieff will be at the Owl on 8th September 2026 at 6.30pm talking around the themes of fathers and sisters. Sofka Zinovieff was born in London, has Russian ancestry and is attached to Greece. She is the acclaimed author of three works of non-fiction: Eurydice Street, Red Princess, and The Mad Boy, Lord Berners, My Grandmother and Me and has written three novels, The House on Paradise Street, Putney, and her latest, Stealing Dad which is just out in paperback. Esther Freud is the author of nine previous novels, and her work has been translated into thirteen languages. Her first novel Hideous Kinky was made into a film starring Kate Winslet. After publishing her second book she was selected as one of Granta’s Best Young British Novelists. Her other novels include The Sea House, Mr Mac and Me, and I Couldn’t Love You More. Her latest, My Sister and Other Lovers, is an irresistible exploration of love, family and freedom in all its forms.
