An Evening of Fairy Tales & Folklore with Dr Sharon Blackie

About This Event

Dr Sharon Blackie will present an evening focusing on fairy tales and folklore. The event explores how these narratives have historically guided women through various periods. Attendees are also invited to participate in a subsequent question and answer session.

Fairy tales are powerful because at their heart is transformation. Long before princesses were pink and perfect, these stories showed women how to face the unfaceable, find hidden strength, and transform challenges into growth and empowerment.

In this talk, Dr Sharon Blackie reminds us that fairy tales were made for times of uncertainty, change and upheaval. Drawing from her new book,Ripening, she reflects on how fairy tales mirror the realities of ordinary lives, illuminating who we are and who we could be. They offer powerful images and help us see the new possibilities that appear when the systems around us begin to break.

Join us to explore how fairy tales have taught women across generations to be savvy, confident, and assertive – and why these stories are still needed today.

Doors open at7pm, talk starts at7:30pm- come down early to grab a good seat!
