A safe space for people to share (and listen to) testimonies of injustice - without fear of judgment. (2nd Thursday of every other month)
[Hi. This the live version of the online group. Same principles apply. Its based in the recovery college, in the centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne. For the online version see Self Detective eventbrite page (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/self-detective-26193680193) for more details.]
Do you have an injustice that you would like to let go of? Would you like to have your day in court and have your grievances validated - without fear of jugement? Would you like to be able to listen to others tell their story, so that you can help contribute to a healing process? If so, this might be the place for you.
2/3rd of the world suffer from Injustice (https://worldjusticeproject.org/our-work/research-and-data/measuring-justice-gap). And it isn't just a human thing - it affects animals as well: horses, crows, dogs and monkeys (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meiU6TxysCg).
Self Detective (https://selfdetective.net)(in partnership with Community Counselling Cooperative) has been providing safe, mutual aid spaces for healing and growth for over 10 years.
Here is now it works:
We set up an online environment that is nurturing and agreeable to its participants, infused with goodwill, empathy and compassion. The sessions are a mixture of support and supported learning.
There is an open invitation, when people are ready, to tell their story. This is the gold dust of the sessions.
'Externaling the internal' is a therapeutic method to help bring about change. We are inspired by Chanel Miller's victim statement (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK28Powy4ZQ): Her words so powerful they propelled her from victim to surivor to thriver. Could this be you?
The People vs.Injustice is very much in its infancy. Could you come and help to shape it?
We envisage people coming to this group either as themselves, or with an invented name. Some people may want another person to read out their story - or even act our their story. We are up for seeing how all of this might work - for the sake of our wellbeing.
If you have a query, or if you would like to set up your own 'The People vs.Injustice' group, in your own backyard, get in touch. We can assist with training and resources, help and guidance: tpvi@communitycounsellingcooperative.co.uk
