About This Event
Scheduled for 9 March 2027, this final workshop will focus on turning insights gained from previous sessions into lasting change regarding the inner critic. Participants will learn to identify personal patterns of self-criticism and develop strategies for maintaining progress. The session will include reflection and practical planning exercises to help consolidate therapeutic gains.
4. Sustain the Change
Inner Critic Work: Turning Insight into Lasting Change
From Insight to Lasting Change
Changing our relationship with the inner critic is rarely a one-off intervention. The critical voice may reappear during periods of stress, uncertainty, transition or perceived failure, making it important for therapeutic work to extend beyond insight and individual techniques.
This final two-hour CPD workshop brings together the learning from the three previous workshops and focuses on turning awareness into sustainable change. Participants will explore how to help clients identify their individual inner-critic patterns, recognise progress, anticipate setbacks and develop an ongoing plan for responding differently when self-criticism returns.
Through reflection, case formulation and practical planning exercises, practitioners will consider how to consolidate therapeutic gains, strengthen self-compassion and support clients in developing a more flexible and supportive inner dialogue.
The workshop will also invite practitioners to reflect on how they can integrate work with the inner critic into their existing therapeutic practice rather than treating it as a standalone intervention.
The final stage of the Taming the Inner Critic journey is therefore about sustaining the change — helping clients carry their learning forward, respond differently when the critic returns, and continue developing a more flexible and supportive relationship with themselves.
