About This Event

This CPD session addresses the rising risks of falls as people age. It focuses on learning stability techniques as a cost-effective measure to prevent potential care costs.

As people age, risks of falls rise. The most cost-effective investment in avoiding care costs (£1000 – £1700 a week for a care home) is to learn stability exercises. Yoga teachers can hugely contribute to students being stable, steady and keep upright. Chair exercises aren’t enough. Anna teaches the Otago Falls prevention programme and Get Up and Go exercises - proven to lower incidence and severity of falls. Tips for general classes and private lessons in postural stability instruction. Anna Semlyen has a Level 2 Falls Prevention Awareness cert. Extensive handouts & links to research evidence, videos and hatha yoga – postures, breathing and meditation, especially on reducing fear are included.
