Introduction to Welding is set for 4 October at The Weld Space in Plymouth. This one-day course introduces the basics of welding metal and allows participants to weld their own metal object.
This one-day course will introduce you to the basics of welding metal and let you have a go at welding to create your own object in metal.
This one-day practical welding course will introduce you to the basics of welding metal and explore the most common and accessible welding process of MIG (Metal-inert-Gas) Welding.
Over the day; you will discover MIG welding techniques to weld in horizontal and vertical positions. You will use angle grinders to prepare metal for welding and use them to clean up welds. You will learn best practise for welding metal of different thicknesses and size. We will look at the setting up the machinery and machine trouble shooting.
By the end of the day; you will be confident using a MIG Welder and know about the steps required to make metal objects or carry out repairs. You will create a small metal pot to take away with you.
This course is perfect for beginners or anyone keen to just have a go at welding without buying all the expensive machinery and metal.
By joining this course you qualify for our Book a Bench Hire scheme. So you can come back and practise or make your own product
The day will be led by Richard Evans, an experienced metal fabricator and designer. All materials required for this course are included in the price.

Skills you'll learn: MIG Welding of mild steel, material preparation using an angle grinder, general fabrication and finishing techniques.
